The impregnable "Castello della Pietra" and other charming castles dating back to the ancient imperial feuds period dominate the valleys which climb up towards Mount Antola, the heart of the homonymous regional nature park. The balance reached in this area between man and nature is witnessed by the communication system and by ancient settlements, together with stone and wooden farmhouses, oratories painted in fresco, and mills. The centuries-old chestnut tree woods and the splendid blooming of the grazing lands of Antola have been travelled through by generations of mule drivers transporting salt towards the Po Plain, and they have become nowadays the ideal destination of hikers.
